This past month has been a month of a lot of firsts for us...first time to have a one month old, first time to take a baby hunting, first time to have Christmas with a child! What fun it has been...and exhausting of course! Derrick got off work on the Thursday before Christmas and we headed to Boyd Friday morning. We got to meet new cousins, had Christmas at Nanny's which included a 30 people Chinese Christmas and Left, Right, Center game, and had a wonderful pseudo Christmas morning with a pile of blessings given to us and to Rhyder. We are so blessed by the Ratliffs and very grateful for their love and involvement in our lives. Christmas Eve morning I woke up at 6am in a lot of pain - I've been fighting some infections and it hit again that morning. I was crying for 2 hours and felt terrible. I left the Ratliffs weak and terrible looking which I felt really badly about. We avoided going to urgent care hoping I'd get better on my own. By that night, I had a fever, but thank God it went away and I didn't have to go to the ER on Christmas. Either way, it made for a not as good as I would have liked Christmas Eve...however, seeing the Kaspars at Daddy Don's is always fun and I troopered through it because it only happens once a year!
Rhyder slept like a champ Christmas Eve night and I woke up feeling much better (I had only had 7 hours of sleep in the previous 48 hours). We were at my parents house and had a very yummy brunch and then opened presents! We are so blessed as well by my family - gosh we're a blessed bunch! We received so many wonderful things and we are so thankful and love our families so much.
We made the decision to attempt to take Rhyder to a movie :) So to Les Miserables we went - and he did awesome the whole 3 hours! We stayed in Shiner Christmas night so we had more time with my family and then headed home on the 26th.
